Description: Facilitated negotiations between China’s State Development Planning Commission and Central Asian counterparts to organize a multilateral conference, in Urumqi, Xinjiang, PRC, on economic cooperation in Central Asia to be attended by trade ministers and other government officials from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the People's Republic of China, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. A proposal to establish a permanent international body to foster improved economic relations to be considered.
